Hinge Care & Maintenance

Our carpetbags are built to last, and the metal hinges are designed for long-term durability. With regular care, your frame will continue to open and close smoothly for years. Below are simple steps to keep your hinge in its best condition.

Why Hinges Make Noise

If your hinge begins to squeak or make a clicking noise, don’t worry — this usually means the hinge simply needs a touch of lubrication. It’s an easy fix and completely normal over time.

How to Lubricate the Hinge

You can use any regular multi-purpose lubricating oil.

Where to Apply the Oil

The best places to apply lubrication are the small screws at both ends of the hinge, where the two metal frame pieces connect.

A single drop on each screw is usually enough.

How to Apply

  1. Open the bag fully.

  2. Place one small drop of lubricating oil onto each screw at the ends of the hinge.

  3. Slowly open and close the frame a few times to help the oil spread evenly.

  4. Wipe away any excess oil with a soft cloth.

This simple step should eliminate any squeaking or stiffness immediately.

Recommended Lubricating Oil

Any standard multi-purpose oil will work.
Here’s a product many customers find very effective:

Maintenance Frequency

To keep the hinge working smoothly, we recommend lubricating these screws every few months as part of regular maintenance.
